Arif Sultan Al Hammadi

Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi is currently serving in Khalifa University of Science Technology (KU) as the Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He has been at KU since its inception in 2007 where he was the founding interim president from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that he was the President of Etisalat University College that was merged with KU in 2007.

He is a member of the board for a number of organizations such as the Emirates Scientists Council, Sheik Shakhbout Medical City, ADNOC schools, Sanad Group, the Armed Forces Award for Excellence and Innovation council, Minister of Interiors Award for Scientific Research council, UAE Water Aid Foundation and the Chess and Mind Games Club in Abu Dhabi. He currently chairs the UAE graduate research conference (UAE_GRC), Khalifa Innovation Center (KIC) and the scientific committee at the UAE Thinkers initiative.

He has chaired a number of scientific conferences and competitions and has a number of publications in scientific conferences and journals, and has experience in teaching and research in several fields, including artificial intelligence and computer networks.

During his tenure at KU he has led the establishment of a number of initiatives such as the UAE first Research and Education Network (ANKABUT), the UAE first PhD program in Engineering (Buhooth), the first UAE Smart applications contest, the MBZ International Robotic Challenge (MBZIRC), the first UAE research center in Information and Communication Technology (EBTIC), UAE graduate research conference (UAE_GRC) and the Khalifa Innovation Center (KIC)

He has a PhD degree in Telecommunications which he obtained from Queen Mary University of London (2000) and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering (with Honors) from Khalifa University (Etisalat College of Engineering) – UAE (1994).

A cycling and skiing enthusiast, he is a golden member of UAE Skiers Club and a board member of Abu Dhabi Cycling Club.

Habiba Al Safar

Dr. Habiba Al Safar has a Ph.D. in philosophy in forensics and medical sciences from Western Australia, a M.Sc. in medical engineering from the United Kingdom and a B.Sc. in biochemistry from the United states of America. Her research interest is constructing the genomic structures of individuals of Arab descent to identify genomic segments that carry gene(s) that predispose to disease.

Ehab Fahmy El-Sadaany

Ehab Fahmy El-Sadaany is IEEE fellow for his contributions in distributed generation planning, operation and control. Professor in EECS Department at Khalifa University and adjunct professor at the ECE Department, University of Waterloo, Canada. Director of the Advanced Power and Energy Center (APEC). Received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Ain Shams University, Cairo, in 1986 and 1990, and his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo in 1998. Was with ECE at Waterloo between 2000 and 2019, where he was the Director of the Power MEng program between 2010 and 2015. An Internationally recognized expert in the area of sustainable energy integration and smart distribution systems. His research interests include smart grid operation and control, microgrids, self-healing, cyber-physical security of smart grids, protection, power quality, distributed generation and power electronics interfacing. He is an editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SMART GRID, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER SYSTEMS, and IEEE Power Systems Letters. He is registered professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.

Samuel Mao

Dr. Samuel Mao is senior director of Masdar Institute and professor of practice of Khalifa University. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Saeed Alhassan

Saeed Alhassan, Ph.D., is a faculty member at Khalifa University and works on elemental sulfur, 2D materials and colloidal systems.
